Natural Hairstyles

How to be successful at fasting - part 1

Most people do not fast because of fear. Fear distracts people from the experience of fasting. You need to understand that to be successful at fasting, you need to 'focus' and be 'attentive', whatever age, height or weight you are.

Fasting will awaken you to the fact of how reliant people are on food. They even have set times: breakfast, lunch and dinner. You will also realize how society base their lives around 'tell-lie-vision'. What type of product is most advertised on television? Food. At every commercial, you will be tempted into breaking your fast because of a craving. You need to turn off the TV and replace it with an activity that will avoid food commercials. An activity that many people choose to participate in is 'meditation'. Meditation, has lost its taste because of its relation to 'paganism'. Actually, meditation is a natural activity, that all of you perform, minutes before you fall asleep, you do it everyday, without realizing it. This is because your conscious and subconscious mind have fallen prey to television. Only doing what they tell you to do. You have fallen prey to your own imagination. You need to discipline yourself to defeat your mind. You also need to be silent and spend sometime with yourself, without the tempting distraction of food in your surroundings.

African women are well known for their braided hairstyles. In fact if you ask a child to portray a woman from an African origin the image of the woman would have braided hair.

The passion for having braided hair has evolved from the urge to looking beautiful. The underlying though of getting numerous variants of braids on their hairs is the desire to look attractive and appealing. Braids have become more like a trademark for African women.

However, this has become a huge fashion statement and women of all races and region love to try on this unique look. It is quite fashionable and funky...

Split ends

Trimming your hair on a regular basis is a part of keeping your hair healthy. However if you do not trim the ends on a regular basis, the ends of your hair strands become split, and your hair does not grow at the standard rate of 1/2 an inch per month. Your hair will surely grow back, so don't be afraid to trim the ends. In fact, your hair is more likely to grow if you get rid of your split ends.

If you don't like the idea of trimming your hair, here are a few tips on how to have a decreased amount of split ends.

1) Avoid excessive heat. You can stop excessive heat by not using curling irons, hair dryers, straighteners, etc. These all cause stress on your hair. There is also an increased risk of stress on your head if you put bobbles in your hair that are too tight. this causes split ends and breakage.
2) Stop using chemicals. Relaxers, dyes, perming products cause the weakening of hair cells which contributes to split ends. Even chlorine from a swimming pool dries out your hair, so don't excessively swim, at least without a swimming cap on.
3) Moisturize your hair. moisturizing is a key factor in the protection of your hair. It should be done on a regular basis. If you do not moisturize dry ends they will turn into split ends.
Split ends are damaged. The only way you can get rid of them is if you trim them off.

How to twist your hair

There are various ways to make your twists look good. You can either single twist your hair or double twist your hair. Both types of twists are protective hairstyles, which give your hair a rest from the natural breakage of hair. If you have naturally kinky or curly hair, the style will look great on you.

There are a range of sizes that you can have with your twists. In most cases, the smaller the twists the longer you want them in, and vise versa, the bigger the twists, the shorter amount of time you want them in. Deciding on the size of your twists is the first factor to think about while styling your hair.

Before starting, you should part your hair into four corners and comb each corner out. You can use clips to divide each section. Whilst combing, if your hair is dry you can put in a little bit of moisturizing oil or gel into your hair.

Begin parting separate sections and then
begin twisting your hair by crossing of two sections at a time. If you choose to double twist your hair, you have to repeat this procedure twice. Repeat until you've twisted all the strands on you hair, or until you have completed your desired style.

If you have trouble with twisting the back of your hair, you should have two stationary mirrors, attached to a stable piece of equipment, where you can see the back of your hair. If your hands are too short, I recommend you do so stretching to help your strengthen your arm muscles so that it will be easier to twist your hair.
